Being a mom is tough! In my second year of college, one of my close friends from my hometown had her first baby. I was struggling to figure out how to juggle passing my classes with partying every night, and she was having a baby! It felt like she was ten steps ahead of me. A handful of years later, I visited her at her new place, and I got my first peak into what it means to be a mom.

I was just amazed at her. She worked from home, and her 3-year-old didn't have daycare that day. So, with one hand, she was quickly folding pairs of socks together and tossing them into a basket across the room, with the other, she was idly stacking magnetic tiles with her toddler – all while holding an in-depth conversation with me.

Yes, there were toys scattered all over the floor, and yes, she did eventually turn on Bluey. Like many moms, she felt like just because she wasn't doing it as perfectly as the TikTok moms pretend to, she wasn't doing it well, but I was simply in awe. I realized she was way more than 10 steps ahead of me – she was a whole 10 miles away for even attempting to raise a tiny human into a fully-functioning adult.
